WILLIAM J. MURPHY, MBA, SHRM-CP

Director of Human Resources and Strategy | Partner

William Murphy, MBA, SHRM-CP, is Director of Human Resources and Strategy at Capstone Financial Advisors. Bill first knew Capstone as a client. When an opportunity arose for him to join the team and share his knowledge, he was excited to become part of an organization he valued.

I was attracted to Capstone as an employee because of its client-first mission. It’s strong values and beliefs are the foundation of its decision-making, which is to always do the right thing for clients and employees. In my role, I hold myself to these same standards with my internal clients as our advisors do with their financial planning clients.”

Invested in the future

As a director of human resources, Bill takes his responsibility to his colleagues very seriously. He sees himself as a mentor who helps coworkers realize their professional goals and objectives. Bill also works closely with the leadership team to guide and establish Capstone’s priorities and strategic direction. At the heart of his approach is treating all people with dignity and respect. When that occurs, he believes we can help others realize their full potential – professionally, personally, and of course, financially.

When we understand how our actions and decisions affect others, such as how our team members’ contributions affect our clients’ success and our organization’s goals, we can achieve more,” Bill says.

Building community

Bill works to build a better community outside the workforce, as well. He supports several local organizations and enjoys experiencing new cultures. One highlight of his education career was studying abroad in Rome at the John Felice Rome Center (Loyola University).

Bill earned his Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University and his MBA in Finance and Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He received his Human Resource certification from the Society for Human Resource Management.
